Advent Calendar Picks 2017

Yes it really is that time of year again! It's time to start thinking about what advent calendar you'd most like to kick off the festive season with and this year the choices really do seem better than ever.

I have been debating when to put this post live as I didn't want to peak too soon with the Christmas content, however, and as we all know, advent calendars tend to sell out pretty quickly and I personally think it's better to strike whilst the iron is hot with these. I also carried out a little Twitter poll where the majority said to publish it sooner rather than later!

So below you'll find my top picks of advent calendars for 2017 and with each I have stated if they're cruelty free, vegan or both which will hopefully help you with your choice this Christmas.

Lush

Lush's 12 Days of Christmas advent boxes have been a popular choice for many of you every year. I was fortunate enough to be given one a couple of years ago and I really loved getting a daily product to try out and use in the lead up to Christmas. The only down side is that it is only 12 days so you'd need to decide when you are going to open it. This is the perfect choice for someone who enjoys home pampering and it's great that it's completely vegan friendly and of course cruelty free. (CF & V)

John Lewis Christmas Tealight Advent Calendar

Nothing makes the home feel more festive and 'hygge' than candles so when I saw this John Lewis  tealight advent calendar I was so happy! It comes with a glass tealight holder and a different scented candle for each day. I just love the idea of this and the ritual of lighting a candle a day up until Christmas. I also feel that this is really great value at only £25.00. (CF & V)

The Body Shop

The Body Shop's advent calendars tend to be very popular every year and this year looks set to be no different. There's three choices of advent calendars in the range with prices from £45.00 - £99.00. Each advent calendar contents add up to almost double the calendar price which also makes them excellent value for money. All of the calendars are cruelty free but sadly none are vegan friendly. It would be great to see The Body Shop change this for next Christmas! (CF)

Chocologic

This Chocologic advent calendar (available at Tesco's) looks very cute and festive and it's the perfect choice for vegan children, or adults, looking for a great value chocolate option. (V & CF)

Bluebird Tea Co.

It was featured in last years advent calendar post and I'm featuring it again! Bluebird have changed a few things up this year and there's now more tea bags included, 18 to be precise. I love, love, love the idea of this and trying a new tea every day in the lead up to Christmas. This calendar was a huge sell out success last year so be sure to get your order in early! (CF & V *except for perfume bar which made from beeswax)

Makeup Revolution

If makeup is your thing then this option from Makeup Revolution is excellent as it contains 25 full size products for only £30.00! There also looks like there's a really good selection of products of included. Makeup Revolution are a cruelty free brand but not all of their products are suitable for vegans and they informed me that this calendar cannot be classed as vegan friendly. (CF)

Hotel Chocolat

The Hotel Chocolat advent calendar is a must for the chocolate lover! I've tried it myself a couple of years ago and loved it. Their vegan dark chocolate is rich and creamy and it's one of my all time favourites. What could be better than a chocolatey treat a day in the lead up to Christmas!?? (CF & V)

Bloom Collection

The 12 Days of Christmas perfume advent calendar available from Superdrug is definitely one I wouldn't mind trying myself. It may only be 12 days but who would need 25 bottles of perfume anyway!? Plus vegan perfume can be hard to come by so the fact that this contains 12 miniature bottles of it is quite amazing. (CF & V)

Ciate London

I absolutely love the look of this Mini Mani Month advent calendar by Ciate. It contains 24 must haves for the perfect manicure including no less than 20 different shades of nail polish. And the good news is that Ciate confirmed with me that everything within this advent is suitable for vegans - hooray! (CF & V)

Edinburgh Gin

I will always remember 2017 as being the year that I first tried, and loved, gin. I can't believe it's taken me so long to get on board with this but I am so glad I did because it's my new favourite alcoholic tipple of choice. So of course this Edinburgh Gin advent calendar from John Lewis caught my eye! I'm not sure I could keep up with a gin a day for 25 days but if you could then this one's for you. (CF & V)

Meri Meri

If none of those advents take your fancy then why not make your own, or ask your loved one to make one for you! I absolutely love this Honeycomb Advent Village by Meri Meri which would just look so cute out on display in December. You can fill each self assemble item with a festive treat of your choice which makes it all the more fun! (CF & V)

I seriously feel spoilt for choice this Christmas! I love all of these options so much it's really going to make deciding what one to get quite difficult. I am also very tempted to do a DIY one for Andy because I just love buying mini treats to surprise him with!

What one will you be going for!??

  1. Christmas season can never start too early, Sarah! Here in Austria we could use more selection for vegan advent calendars. But I found out that a local chocolate manufacturer does an advent calendar full of homemade vegan chocolates. I think I need to get my hands on one of those!

  2. Apparently JOIK are releasing an advent calendar so I'm looking forward to seeing the contents of that.
I'm also happy that Holland & Barrett are releasing one at a decent price too but sadly it isn't ADV.
I had a Bluebird Tea advent calendar last year which I remember you asking me to blog about, so I did. I must say I was very disappointed. It was £35 for 18 tea bags, 1 contained peanuts so I couldnt drink it and the scented tealight gave off no smell. I wouldn't buy it again and would rather spend that £35 on other products from their site.

My Bluebird Tea advent calendar review is here

  3. I love the body shop one but I find it can be so repetitive. I really want the Lush one this year but I have no bath to enjoy them, lovely selection to chose from though :) xx
