Lush Big Hair

I don't know about you, but I have always struggled to make my hair feel voluminous and big. No matter what hair care products I have purchased, they've never made a difference. Until now that is!

I recently thought I would give some Lush products a try as they are cruelty free and I have been trying to gradually change all of my products over to cruelty free brands.

I was really impressed with this 'Big' shampoo and the results. It's a strange consistency for a shampoo, almost like a body scrub. But once you start to rub it into your hair it does lava up like other shampoos.

Afterwards my hair definitely felt bigger with more volume and bounce to it. I was really impressed! I will definitely be purchasing this shampoo again.

Vegfest London

Today I visited my first ever Vegfest event in London and it was amazing!

There was an abundance of stalls, talks and eateries - all of which got me very excited.

It was good to see brands there like the Jason & Lush range, both of which I am a big fan of.

It was a great opportunity to stock up on some vegan treats, especially some delicious cupcakes from Ms Cupcake!

As you can see from this photo, I picked myself up quite a haul!

I am already planning my next visit to Vegfest and after today's experience I think it will be a regular date in my diary.

If you would like to visit any of their events next year then check out the Vegfest website.

Veggie Burger

One of my all time favourite vegan meals is the veggie burger! Tonight my husband made me this amazing chickpea burger with a side of corn on the cob and homemade sweet potato wedges & chilli vegan mayo. What a winning combination!

One of my favourite things to do at the weekend is:

2. cook up an all day vegan breakfast!
So simple, yet so yummy! Bakes beans, mushrooms, spinach, wholemeal toast, grilled cherry tomatoes and some vegan sausages. Voila!

A Vegan Shopping Trolley

I went food shopping today and as I was walking up and down the aisles I felt so proud of my shopping trolley full of vegan goods! Doesn't it just look so inviting!?

Vegucated

Last night my husband and I decided to watch the 'Vegucated' documentary on Netflix.

As I am transitioning from being a vegetarian to a vegan I am trying to educate myself more about the benefits of a vegan diet and I thought this film would be a good starting point.

Although this film is slightly dated and a little bad quality in terms of filming, it has really motivated me even more so to become a vegan. It has really moved me into new place in my life and a new way of thinking. I honestly don't think there is any going back now.

The documentary follows three americans who volunteer themselves to adopt a vegan diet for six weeks. We get to see their their highs and lows first hand and how they begin to educate themselves around the factory farming and animal agriculture.

Before watching this film I don't think that I was aware of just how cruel the dairy industry is. As a vegetarian I felt like I was making a real difference by not eating meat but now I am realising that dairy is really no different in terms of animal suffering. If I want to make a bigger difference to the lives of animals then I know that I need to become vegan.

This film had such an impact on my husband that he actually went out and bought some soya milk today. Bearing in mind that this is someone who loves his traditional cups of teas more than anyone else I know, this film has even managed to change his mind.

Sometimes it can be hard to face up to the reality of what's going on in the world. I have many friends and family members who tell me that they can't watch films like this because it will upset them too much. Well if you can recognise that this film might upset you then maybe you need to ask yourself why?

In any case, this film is much more informative than it is upsetting. Yes there are some clips which are hard to watch but ultimately this is something that people need to watch instead of living in ignorance.

As long as we continue to fund this industry animals will be subjected to unthinkable amounts of suffering and I am so happy that films like Vegucated are bringing these issues into the mainstream.

I would love to hear your thoughts on Vegucated so please comment below if you have watched it.

Vegan Pancakes

Pancakes are up there as one of my favourite things to eat. I love them at any time of the day and in any way!

Moving from a vegetarian to vegan diet has been mostly easy so far but I have been interested in trying some vegan recipes for foods which are renowned for having dairy in them.

Today I tried my hand at some vegan pancakes. I took this simple recipe from the All Recipes website and was amazed by how easy it was to make these. Plus I already had all the ingredients in my cupboard which was an added bonus.

Both myself and my husband couldn't really believe how similar they tasted to regular pancakes, considering that they didn't have any eggs in them.

We topped them off with some fresh strawberries, maple syrup and icing sugar and they were yummy!
